The 2012 California Financial Literacy Conference For Educators will gather together 4-12 educators, California community colleges, nonprofits, businesses, community groups, financial professionals, government agencies and others to empower California's 4-12 educators and community colleges to fight financial illiteracy by educating a new generation of Californians to manage their finances better than the generations that have gone before.
The conference will deliver the tools educators need to integrate personal finance education into their classrooms.
A similar conference was held in Los Angeles in April 2011, with outstanding response from the educators who attended. Over 90% said they would like to attend again. Here's some of their feedback on what they liked best:
- "Tools and valuable resources we can use and share to take back and use in our community."
- "The overall concept of bringing financial literacy into the classroom and sharing best practices of how teachers can implement financial literacy in their classrooms."
- "It was fantastic to discover how many resources are available at no cost"
- "Everything was very relevant and timely very well done. Excellent topics and powerful speakers! I hope the word spreads and you double the size each year"
Most programs featured at the conference will result in no fiscal expenses for educators or school districts.
Plus, educators will learn the skills to deliver personal finance education themselves or make connections with trained volunteers who can bring personal finance education to their classrooms.
The $25 fee includes parking, continental breakfast, lunch and a snack at the event.
